MammalsFrom anteaters to orangutans, the Gulf Breeze Zoo is home to more than 50 species of mammals. The primary characteristics of mammals are that they are warm-blooded, they give birth to live babies (not eggs) and they usually have hair or fur.
BirdsOur birds are as lightweight as the 1-ounce budgerigar parakeet – or budgie – and as heavy as the 250-pound ostrich. All birds have feathers, wings and beaks and lay eggs. Fun fact: Not all birds can fly.
